June 2024 Newsletter
Hello, and a juicy June to you!
Welcome, or welcome back, to my newsletter.
Today's issue is about habits, and which ones we choose to practice.
Enjoy!
What habits are you practicing?
|
We develop habits as we grow to make our lives easier, and hopefully better. We brush our teeth before we go to bed, and make the bed when we get up. Most of us don't wonder "should I brush my teeth tonight?",
we just do it automatically, without thinking, often with our mind on other things. All these habits allow us to deepen our skills, to grow, and to move forward in various areas of our lives. Yet some of these habits, which we may
never question, can also hold us back.
|
Over my life I've developed some habits I'm proud of, which have helped me become mostly healthy and well-functioning. And unfortunately, I've also developed habits which haven't helped me, which I now see have
held me back from living my best life. What comes to mind immediately is my tendency to worry and fret and strain at almost everything. This translated physically to nearly constant eyestrain, then steadily increasing myopia with ever-stronger
eyeglasses when I was a child.
|
Looking back, I can thank my parents for taking such good care of me when I was too young to take care of myself. I can also wish that some things had been different, that I had been pushed less and praised more for my little
successes, and especially that someone had noticed how anxious I was and taken consistent steps to calm me. The responsibility for my life and my emotions, and for my vision, belongs to me now. I don't intend to force myself or
my eyesight to perform like an unfeeling machine any longer.
|
Admittedly, I have forced myself to achieve, without paying much attention to whether I was tired or not, or would rather do something else. This was a familiar pattern for me, my personal comfort zone, you could say. It may sound strange
to those who grew up with a more laid-back lifestyle, but I was definitely stretching myself and leaving my familiar comfort zone of go! do! achieve! to start moving at a slower less frantic pace, or to take some time to relax rather than needing to accomplish
something every minute.
|
It was obvious to me, and sort of startling, to find that when I was more relaxed, I could see better. Who knew? Yes, all the vision improvement books talked about this, but I hadn't really embodied this concept yet. I had thought the way to improve
my eyesight was repeated eye exercises, with little understanding of why I was doing these practices. Focusing on being present in the moment, whether I was palming or swinging or just idly looking, as simple as that sounds, helped me start to relax and "be here now" instead
of lost in my worries. Then my vision slowly started to improve.
|
One of the most useful vision practices, which I avoided for years, is using the eye chart. I had felt like I was failing a test, as if a critical teacher was standing over me saying "Nancy, you're getting it wrong. Again!". I've trained myself to now see the eye chart
as an objective supportive tool, which regularly shows me that my vision is improving. So I'm not all pressured and stressed when I look at it. That was a habit I wanted to let go of, since it was getting in my way. What habit, vision-related or otherwise, might you be better off without? If you get quiet and think about it,
you probably already know. You have the capability to make your life as satisfying and fulfilling as possible.

Upcoming EFT one-day intensive
My skilled insightful EFT teacher Dr. Carol Look is offering a one-day intensive in July, Choose Your Best Belief. I can't recommend Carol's work highly enough.
Your beliefs may be holding you back without you realizing it. Say you believe "No one in my family is good with ____". What if that's not true for you? We'll have one activation
call to prepare us, a few weeks before the day-long session in July.
You can check out more details
here.
Have you wondered if my work could help you?
I'm now offering complimentary Discovery Session consultations
of 20 minutes or so, for us to discuss what you're looking for
in a coach, and to see whether you and I feel like a fit to work
together formally. To schedule your Discovery Session, click
here.
Do you want your own copy of future newsletters?
If a friend forwarded this to you, or you're reading it from
Facebook or LinkedIn, this is a hit-or-miss method of receiving
it, and you might not see it next time. If you'd like to be on
my distribution list, you can join
here.
You can un-subscribe at any time.
Thank you!
Please send me your questions and comments
Let me know what you've wondered about concerning energy medicine
or vision or dreams. I'll be glad to write a short article addressing
that topic. Thank you to those who have sent me questions, or see
a question you asked me in a private session written about here.
You're helping many other people!
Enjoy the start of this jubilant month of June.
I'll write again in a few weeks. Take care!
