Mid-August 2025 Newsletter
Hello, and a miraculous Mid-August to you!
Welcome, or welcome back, to my newsletter.
Today's issue is about how vision improvement can be very personal.
Enjoy!
Vision improvement is personal
|
Even if you have a lot in common with family members or folks in your community, your eyes and vision are uniquely your own. One of my
favorite examples of this, which still makes me laugh, is remembering when a well-meaning friend handed me her reading glasses to help me see
something far away. Her visual challenge was seeing clearly up close, so she assumed that was mine too, which it wasn't. Her "cheaters" made my
distant view even more blurry!

You may have been annoyed, as I have, by someone thinking they knew exactly what you needed to do, almost trying to force a solution on you
which had helped them with something. They assume your problem is just like what they went through. It can be particularly irritating when you're interrupted mid-sentence, the speaker clearly determined to recommend their remedy,
before you've finished fully describing what you're hoping to have healed or corrected. Help is welcome only if it actually will help.

Most people's vision is strained from trying too hard to see, or maybe even from trying not to see some situation too clearly. Visual strain is
usually a symptom of mental strain, with simple relaxation practices recommended to relieve some of this tension. Again, we're all different; some folks
might relax by listening to calming music while
palming
their eyes, while others might need a more movement-based activity to unwind, like playing a sport, or going for a walk outdoors.
|
Visual challenges vary too, and not only in whether it's easier for you to see far than up close, or vice versa. Maybe one of your eyes is much weaker than the other,
which will lead to any glasses or contacts prescription being very different between your left and right eyes. Ideally we want to be as balanced as possible, including with our
eyes, and with this particular situation, you'd likely feel disoriented and off-balance when not wearing your glasses. You'd want to strengthen the weaker (really more strained)
eye without overwhelming it, to be more of a partner. Your eyes should be a team.
|
Some people's visual challenge is fully recovering from an operation which they now regret, since it wasn't the quick fix they had hoped for, and left them with unwanted
side effects like Dry Eye or something worse. Or maybe there was an accident or injury which affected the eyes and vision. I believe the human body is built to heal and restore
itself from most impacts, as long as we give ourselves nurturing and support, with healthy nourishing food and enough sleep and exercise. Treat your eyes like your children,
listening and taking action if they say they're unhappy.

In addition to a physical remedy like blinking enough, or regularly looking from near to far and back again, don't forget the value of emotional healing. If you're constantly angry, walking
around with a chip on your shoulder expecting a fight at every turn, neither your attitude nor your vision is relaxed. The same is true if you're seeing through a fog of despair or hopelessness.
Your intention and expectation lead you forward, and guide your vision to seek out the good, then let it in and receive it. See and appreciate the beauty all around you, with your special one-of-a-kind eyes.

that topic. Thank you to those who have sent me questions, or see
