March 2019 Newsletter
Hello, and a marvelous March to you!
Welcome, or welcome back, to my newsletter.
Today's issue is about making sense of your dreams, or at least appreciating them.
Enjoy!
How can I understand my dreams?
|
Science tells us everyone dreams during sleep, whether we remember
our dreams or not. To capture more of your dream content, you might
consider leaving a notebook on your bedside table, then jotting down
whatever is on your mind when you wake up. This could be just a dream
fragment, like a human face looking back at you or the image of an animal,
or even the smell of perfume or cookies! Making a note seems to prime the
dream pump, so to speak, which lets more come through for you on following nights.
|
Dreams often hold up a mirror to us of our lives, or send us information
about a problem we're trying to solve. Many folks have noticed that they're
fixated on finding an answer to some challenge, spinning their mental wheels
while awake and getting nowhere. Then overnight their sleeping mind comes up
with a solution and presents it in the morning, like magic. As an example, for 20
years I've been studying and practicing vision improvement, first for myself, then
for clients. My dreams have helped me with this considerably, from emotional
support to practical advice. I write about this in more depth
here.

Dreams have their own kind of strange logic. Images which
would make no sense when we're awake seem perfectly normal in a dream. A friend
dreamed of a sad little man holding an umbrella over his head, with rain coming
down from under the umbrella to drench him, falling nowhere else! Such a great
example of what a Poor Me attitude can do to us. Years ago I dreamed of my energy teacher
speaking on my high school football field, to a crowd in the bleachers where I was.
To my surprise she beckoned me to come down and join her at the podium. I made my
way carefully down a gully next to the steps between the seats, where while standing
my head was still well below the level of the seated crowd. Talk about not wanting to be seen!

Our strong connections with other people may be reflected in our dreams.
I often dream of my favorite teachers transmitting wisdom to me, or of
dear friends who are far from me geographically. This feels like a visit
with someone close to my heart. When I contact the person I dreamed of,
saying "Thanks for coming to see me!", my dream may have a special message
relating to their current circumstances. Again, this feels like magic to me,
like "seeing beyond the veil".
|
We may also dream of places or people from our long-ago past, or famous people we've
never met, even ones who aren't alive any longer. My dream teacher used to
say that many times dreaming of departed relatives is the first invitation to
explore dreaming for those who tend to be highly logical. My dear father died over
20 years ago, and I see him in dreams every few months. I can feel his support and
guidance and gentle humor coming through, and am so grateful for this.

Whether your dreams offer you solutions, or comfort, or merely entertainment, please
don't dismiss them as "just a dream", forgetting all about them as soon as you leave
your bed. If you take a few minutes to record that puzzling dream in a journal,
then look over your entries a few weeks or months later, you may notice repeating
themes. Perhaps you often dream of a former business partner or spouse, feeling longing
or resentment, even though this person is long gone from your waking life. Such dreams
may be nudging you to do some releasing or grieving work, to put the past firmly behind you
so more of your energy is fully in the present. Dreams want to help us grow and heal, and it's
so satisfying to reap the benefits of this valuable (and totally free!) resource.

Let me know what you've wondered about concerning energy medicine
or vision or dreams. I'll be glad to write a short article addressing
that topic. Thank you to those who have sent me questions, or see
a question you asked me in a private session written about here.
You're helping many other people!
Enjoy the start of your March.
I'll write again in a couple of weeks. Take care!
